Here's Episode 5 of "Equipment Garage Gurus ."  Today Jade talks about the most common mistake consumers make regarding small engine maintenance.

#1 Common Mistake Transcript

Do you know the most common consumer error regarding small engine maintenance?  When it comes to small engines, overfilling the oil container is a very common mistake and can cause many different problems for 2 and 4-cycle engines.  In 2-cycle engines, too much oil can cause carbon to build up and that carbon can score your piston's cylinder.  If you overfill a 4-cycle engine oil leakage can creat smoke, which is not only bad for the engine, but can be harmful to you and the environment.  Additionally, overfilling a 4-cycle engine can damage your air filters, spark plugs, and piston rings.  The easiest way to avoid this is to check your owner's manual, which will tell you exactly how much oil to use.
